Frequently Asked Question!

Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman physician in Italy, founded the Montessori educational system in 1907. She centered her teaching strategies on empirical research on how kids learn. Dr. Montessori created a “prepared environment” where kids may freely select from a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, inspired by her discovery that kids learn by doing. Now, over a century has passed since Dr. Montessori opened his first “Children’s Home” in San Lorenzo, Italy. Around the world, Montessori education is available to children from birth through adolescence.

Montessori places a strong emphasis on learning using all five senses, not only hearing, seeing, and reading. Children in Montessori classes develop at their own rate and according to the activities they select from a wide range of options. Discovering new things through learning fosters focus, drive, self-discipline, and a passion of learning. Children are divided into three-year age groups (3-6, 6-9, 9-12, and so on.) in Montessori schools, creating communities where older children naturally impart their expertise to younger ones. The Montessori method of instruction takes a completely different tack.

Children who receive a Montessori education are academically, socially, and emotionally prepared for adulthood, according to research. Along with performing well on standardized tests, Montessori students also perform better than average on measures like following instructions, submitting work on time, paying attention, using fundamental skills, demonstrating responsibility, asking thought-provoking questions, demonstrating enthusiasm for learning, and adapting to new circumstances.

Periods of “sensitivity” were described by Maria Montessori. A child is more equipped to learn specific topics during these times and is more motivated to do so. Between the ages of 2 and 3 1/2, a unique sense of organization, focus, coordination, and independence start to develop. When a kid is at the appropriate age to lay a solid foundation for future learning, it is excellent to start them learning in a Montessori environment.

Because he or she guides the action in the classroom, the teacher is referred to as a director or directress. He or she serves as the conduit between the prepared environment and the youngster. The director or director-ess should be aware of the overall objective of the prepared environment, the nature and use of each item of equipment, and the age range for which the item is appropriate for the kid. He or she meticulously organizes out the day’s activities and aids the kids as they go from one to the next.

Due to their broad curriculum, unique setting, and highly qualified personnel, Montessori preschools around the nation occasionally charge greater tuition than other preschools.

Giving your child the best experience during their most vulnerable years will lay a solid foundation for growth that will last a lifetime. This is why we do our best to provide every family with an affordable tuition rate at SUNRISE MONTESSORI AUBURN.

Youngsters who have experienced a Montessori environment are typically quite adaptable and transition to mainstream school relatively readily. They typically have a more positive outlook on learning and self-direction, which better prepares them to be successful students and manage their time productively.

“Children have a kind of instinct, a special sensibility, which urges them to acquire new words. Between three and five years especially, the child’s mind continues to absorb words. ”
